The sight of Sergio Ramos lifting Real Madrid's tenth Champions League trophy in Lisbon sticks in the mind of Madridistas worldwide, and the transfer policy that led to that success is being deployed once again by the club, four years later. In the summer of 2013, the LaLiga champions went about hoovering up the key stars of Spain's European Under-21 Championship success in Israel. Golden Boot winner Alvaro Morata was already at the club along Bayern Munchen Drakt with Nacho Fernandez, and Dani Carvajal was dragged back from Bayer Leverkusen via his re-purchase clause. Accompanying the trio were Isco and Asier Illarramendi, two of the midfield giants that helped La Rojita to the 4-2 dismantling of Italy in the final, the former scoring the fourth from the spot. In fact, Real are still reaping the benefits of that summer as Carvajal and Isco finished last season in top form as part of Zinedine Zidane's best XI, whilst Morata is worth upwards of 80 million euros and Nacho a useful cog in the coach's rotations. Fast forward to 2017, and the same plan is unfolding once again. Marco Asensio was one of Spain's top players in Poland as the U21s reached the final, and the winger is joined at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu by returning loanees Marcos Llorente and Jesus Vallejo. Also in and around the first-team is magliette Atletico Madrid Borja Mayoral and Dani Ceballos is soon to be a Madrid player once his 18m euro move from Real Betis goes through, the midfielder hot off winning the tournament's Best Player gong. If this mantra of transfer dealings is anything like as positive as its last airing, Los Blancos fans can look forward to the continuation of the whirlwind success that began with that match against Atletico Madrid that secured La Decima.
